You like bikes? Tell the city

The city of Spokane is seeking some feedback for its proposed changes to the city’s Bike Master Plan.

Some quick background, the city’s been working to update the bike plan for a while now, and there are already a lot of facilities that have been built or are in the hopper . Planners have worked hard to re-do the city’s bike map and re-designate the town’s roadways for easier biking-around. Here’s a map showing the highlights to bike map and the city’s bike infrastructure .

The city is also adopting new terminology. No longer will we ride on bicycle boulevards. No way! Now, we’ll cruise along on neighborhood greenways . Excellent!

But really, the plan’s new elements can be boiled down to three simple points:

Bikeways every half mile!

Bigger bike lanes!

Bikes are awesome!

So let the city know what you think. They’ll listen. The period for public input on the proposed changes runs through Monday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. Written comments can be sent to Nathan Gwinn at ngwinn@spokanecity.org .
