Only abortion is protested

I would like to thank Florence Young (Jan. 18) for her letter reminding us to “… do something useful with (our lives).” But I must answer some of her accusations against the group, of which I am a member, known as the Sidewalk Advocates for Life.

As we stand outside Planned Parenthood, our group does not harass or shout at people; nor do we block the driveway when speaking with the clients. We do not protest any of the reproductive health services that Young listed in her letter, but only the one she didn’t mention – abortion.

Since 1973, 57 million children have been lost through abortions, Planned Parenthood being the largest provider. Countless parents have had to live with their decision with the deepest regrets.

For the unborn children, we are a voice for the voiceless. We support and inform parents that they have choices other than abortion. We console the post-abortive parents who grieve for their lost children. We also participate in many of the causes Young listed in her letter as we believe in the dignity of all persons, both born and unborn.
