WA Lege Day 176: House passes biology test delay

OLYMPIA — Moving toward adjournment, the House approved a two-year delay in the high school biology assessment test.

On an 89-1 vote, the House sent to Gov. Jay Inslee a bill that would exempt seniors from the most recent school year, and the upcoming one, from the requirement they pass the test that has been criticized as not representative of the science classes they have been taught. Supporters of the bill say it will allow nearly 2,000 seniors who have completed and passed all other requirements, but failed the biology assessment test multiple times, to get their diplomas.
