Avista should cut weeds
The letter in the July 5 paper about fire-prone weeds on open property is right on. One of the worst offenders is Avista. Here in the Beacon Ridge area near Avista’s power station, waist-high dry weeds cover all the ground under the electrical towers. If a live wire should fall or a careless cigarette be tossed, ignition would likely be instantaneous, to the detriment of our neighborhood.
Avista should cut its weeds and model responsible property ownership. Goodness knows we pay them enough to buy a riding mower (with spark arrester, please) and hire some day labor.
