Jenner Hails Lewiston Mom
Esther Avry of Lewiston was in attendance at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening to see her daughter, Caitlyn
Jenner, accept the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Jenner, who won the Olympic decathlon in 1976 as Bruce Jenner before recently transitioning into a woman, paid tribute to Avry during her 10-minute speech.
“I always thought I got my courage and my determination from my dad, who landed on Omaha Beach, fought all the way through World World II,” Jenner said. “But you know what? I’m realizing now, Mom, I think I got all those qualities from you. Love you very much.” The television broadcast showed Avry waving to her daughter as she spoke/
