Breast-Feeding Mom Asked To Relocate

Spokane mom asked to move from public poolside while breastfeeding. Her story has gained attention as social media. (Gabe Cohen / KHQ)

A Spokane mother of four hopes to educate others about breastfeeding laws after an incident last week at a Spokane public pool. Lydia Davis said she was hanging out with several other mothers at the Liberty Park Aquatic Center when she was asked to relocate to the family restroom to breastfeed her 10 month old. “We were approached by on the young lifeguards, asking us if we would stop breastfeeding or go utilize their bathroom to continue breast-feeding, as if it was making other uncomfortable,” Davis said. Davis didn’t move, nor did she stop feeding her daughter. Instead, she asked to speak with the manager because public breastfeeding is covered under the Washington State anti-discrimination law. Davis said that once again she was offered the family bathroom, so she contacted the City of Spokane’s Parks Manager/ Allie Norton , KXLY. More here.

Question: Are you bothered by women breast-feeding in public?
