Gambling itself is bad

Over the past couple of years, there has been much rhetoric about the threat to Fairchild Air Force Base by the proposed tribal casino in Airway Heights. However, there is a much more important reason to not approve another casino in Airway Heights: Casinos prey on people who are addicted to gambling and senior citizens living on fixed incomes.

The Spokane Tribe has said that the new casino will not impact revenues to the existing casinos. The only way that can be true is if people spend even more money gambling than they do now.

There are already six tribal casinos within a two-hour drive of downtown Spokane. How many casinos are really needed? We do not need another casino draining the pockets of our vulnerable citizens.
