Knezovich presentation genuine

I don’t think Steven Neill (July 14) was in the same room I was in when Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich gave his presentation June 29. It appears he missed the whole point when Ozzie asked who in the room believed in the U.S. Constitution as he held up his pocket copy. I’m pretty sure most hands were raised as a big “yes.” He then said we were all constitutionalists and should be upset that the term “constitutionalist” has been hijacked.

His presentation listed actual case studies in our area of several groups including those who call themselves “constitutionalist” but believe in no law. That group, I believe, is the one who hijacked and have abused the meaning of believing in the Constitution.

Any group that takes things too far over the edge one way or the other distorts the facts to their own view regardless of the facts. If you found the sheriff’s statements personally insulting, maybe they hit a little too close to home. What I saw and heard was a genuine person who cares about his family, his faith, his deputies, his community and his love of our country.
