Wild Card/Tuesday — 7.28.15

I almost nailed a jogger in a crosswalk on the way to work today. I’d stopped at the crosswalk of 3rd St & Foster Ave (by Coeur d’Alene Fire Station) per usual. Checked the southbound traffic on the one-way headed south. And was just about to pull out into a hole in the traffic when I glanced south to make sure that no bicyclists were riding against the traffic. Just as I was easing off the brake, a young man, maybe in his early 20s, raced across the intersection at a good clip. He didn’t break stride. I sat there for a moment, while my blood pressure worked its way back down. I would have hit him if I hadn’t made that second cautionary glance. Or if I had let up on the brake. My morning might have started a lot differently if I hadn’t been awake before my first cup of coffee today. Of such little things can life change. Now for today’s Wild Card …
