Whattabout Wasabe?
Yesterday, we discussed my discovery of the wonders of mixing banana, peanut butter and fresh honey (sans bread). Many of you offered different variations on this cuisine dream including one who suggested peanut butter and onions (no thanks). Well, last night, I experienced another culinary first. Wasabe peas. My pastor’s wife had just opened a $4.95 bag of wasabe peas from Pilgrim’s. I’d just turned down a snickerdoodle cookie from another friend at the Master Class Big Band concert at Sherman Square. So I was weak. I snagged a small handful and took them back to my lounge chair on the Sherman Avenue sidewalk. There, I ate them one at a time. Peas. Radish coat. A bit of a bite. I eventually had two more handfuls. Later, I Googled wasabe peas — and discovered they’re chock full of calories. Yeah, it was a bummer because I was considering them to figure prominently in a new lineup of healthier snacks. So here’s the question:
Question: What healthy snacks would you suggest to get someone through the hungry stretches of the day?
