Drowned Sandpoint Man Found
Bonner County sheriff’s deputies have found the body of a Sandpoint man who dove off a fishing boat in Lake Pend Oreille three weeks ago and never surfaced. Jeremy Heckert, 38, was pulled out of the lake around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday north of Ellisport Bay, Idaho. Heckert was about 135 feet underwater earlier in the morning when a search team’s sonar detected the body, Undersheriff David Hale said. Heckert had been out fishing with a friend on July 10. The friend told police Heckert dove into the water to cool off and sober up, Hale said. He was not wearing a life vest/ Chad Sokol, SR.
