No reversing USPS cuts

Legislation has been proposed to continue six-day mail delivery. Attempts have been made for years to cut mail service to five days. What are the consequences of losing that one day? No medicine, no cards or gifts (think birthdays, weddings, anniversaries) on Saturday. Every Saturday. All 52 of them.

This is more than an inconvenience. Mail that needs to be somewhere on Monday would have to be sent on Thursday with the new service standards implemented in January. The list goes on.

The U.S. Postal Service has a very lucrative agreement with Amazon’s Prime program to deliver parcels on Sundays because nobody else could get it done. Does it make sense to cut a day of delivery when people want another one? When the cuts are made there won’t be any going back. In the end, you, the customers, will be the ones to lose.
