Stop butchering anthem
It’s about time someone spoke up about the way our national anthem is disrespected by these so-called singers who have no respect or an idea of how it is meant to be sung. I’m pretty sure Francis Scott Key would roll over in his grave in disgust hearing the way some of our so-called celebrities butcher his song to make themselves stand out.
You can screech, holler, add all the other so-called musical genre you want to your own pitiful excuses for music, but leave the anthem for someone who knows how it should be sung in the proper and respectful way. It’s not all about you; it’s about honoring our great nation in a respectful manner.
I was told once before that they have the right to sing it any way they want by freedom of speech. Hogwash! It’s about respect for the very country that gives them that right. I, for one, and I’m sure there are many more who would shake Bill Tibbits’ (May 30 letter) hand, and say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!”
