Vote yes on fire measure

With a sparse snowfall and a dry summer predicted, it is imperative that Spokane County Fire District 8 be well-staffed and prepared for coming fire seasons. So, I would like to encourage citizens in District 8 to support Proposition 1 on the August ballot.

Proposition 1 will guarantee that each fire station be manned with a paramedic to meet the immediate needs of injured or ill patients. A sudden emergency may bring on a heart attack or a stroke, and injuries during a house fire are a serious threat, so a paramedic on the scene within minutes may be crucial.

The fire district has informed citizens that over 80 percent of its emergency calls require medical response. The proposed levy will cost homeowners of a $200,000 home only about $8 a month over a four-year period; certainly worth the comfort and aid paramedics will bring.

You can help protect your property and the property of your friends and neighbors by voting yes on Proposition 1.
