Drivers violate laws in Spokane

I’ve heard that he who is faithful in small things is faithful in much. Indeed, it is the little things that matter.

In Spokane, there are many residential streets that are one-way couplets. Drivers violate the law when they drive the wrong way on these streets (this includes bicyclists). Also, the practice is unsafe. We would not drive southbound on Ruby Street or eastbound on Sprague Avenue.

It is also a violation to park in bike lanes, where posted, and on the side of the street facing into traffic flow (These practices also can create situations that are unsafe). However, I have observed all of these behaviors in the various neighborhoods of Spokane.

Finally, register your vehicle and display the current valid sticker on your license plate. Again, I have observed several vehicles with tabs that appear expired (by more than one month). Driving with expired tabs is stealing. The city of Spokane should capitalize on these behaviors by adding parking patrols and ticketing vehicles found in violation. This should include those with expired tabs parked in the street or in parking lots away from the registered address.
