A price on the future

Regarding Gene Sivertson (“Small classes, big costs” – June 3): What he doesn’t realize is how many years teachers did not get raises.

They put in a lot more time than 40 hours, and buy supplies out of their own pocket; more than the government allows for. Those teachers did not walk out for themselves, but for Washington’s kids. When he is OK with the state not following its constitution, we are heading for disaster. Pure logic tells us that the fewer the kids in a classroom, the more attention a child will get.

How can he put a price on future generations? Everyone should want the best for them, since they are the ones who hold our future in their hands.
