Boyington statue to be dedicated Saturday

Boyington statue

Colonel Gregory “Pappy” Boyington was born in Coeur d’Alene in 1912, and he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his combat service during WWII.  Pappy Boyington was the leader of the famed VMF-214 Black Sheep Squadron in the Pacific during WWII.

Among the guest speakers will be the local sculptors who created the statue.  The ceremony will also include a sunset Colors retirement, (lowering of the flags).
