WILDLIFE — The annual distribution of pheasant chicks by the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council was a hit this year.

Organizer Larry Carey said the council distributed 5,881 chicks from Little Canyon pheasant farm to people who paid a small fee for transportation and promised to raised the chicks and release them into the wild.

That’s about 400 more than the council distributed last year.

The program ended for the season on Thursday.
