No one safe from hacking
Is there anyone out there that doesn’t have my personal information yet? I just saw where up to 4 million federal workers had their information hacked from the Office of Personnel Management database.
Last month, I received notification from Blue Shield/Blue Cross that our information had been hacked from their database. During the last decade, I was notified by the Veterans Administration twice that due to a lost computer and hacking, my information was compromised. I worked for the U.S. Forest Service and, as part of my job, I was required to use government credit cards, and our information was stolen from that database. Then there was a lost USFS computer that had my information on it.
We used credit cards at Target, Home Depot and others that have been hacked. If you don’t have my personal information by now, you’re not trying very hard to get it. They all offer identity theft insurance for a year after the occurrence, but what good does that really do? I would have had it for the past 10 years if I had accepted it. There’s got to be a better way to protect our information.
