Ink wasted on Jenner story

I find myself amazed and amused at the inordinate amount of attention that the “legitimate press” is granting to the Caitlin/Bruce Jenner story. I am amazed at the amount of ink and air time the press has dedicated to this non-story.

It is fine that the story breaks the curtain and allows the world to begin to understand the feelings Jenner had, which triggered the decision to undergo sex transition. But now it’s time to change the subject. Enough already.

The press needs to step back and, with some chagrin, recognize the fact that they are being manipulated by the sensational nature of the event and, to some extent, Jenner herself. I suggest we reacquire some perspective and let the supermarket tabloids run with this ball, and let the legitimate media (such as still exists) return to real news.

In terms of wasting press time and ink, I hereby apologize for the preceding paragraphs as I, too, have spent more time remarking on this story, contrary to my own suggestion. To sum it all up, at the risk of sounding brusque: Other than Jenner herself, who cares?
