Spokane bigger than this

We ought to be ashamed of ourselves. A progressive city that purports to celebrate the differences in people and claims to be blind to color, gender, age and sexual preference, is turning a back-page news story into a modern day witch hunt.

Since when are we citizens so interested in the background of one individual? Moreover, one who holds responsible positions in institutions that serve to better our community and our world. Our city has many times turned a blind eye when elected officials or officers of the law have broken laws, rules of conduct and standards of morality.

Rachel Dolezal has done none of those things. Some of you will say, oh, but she lied. I ask: Does a day pass that you do not tell a single lie? Have you never in your life pretended you were something that you were not? Do you claim to be well when an acquaintance inquires, rather than share your ailments and true frame of mind?

Rachel Dolezal, I’m behind you. Your family is your business, not ours. Thank you for your service, dedication and leadership. C’mon Spokane, you’re bigger than this.
