Boise Mayor Orders Mississippi Flag Yanked

Official state flag flies in front of the Mississippi governor’s mansion (AP)

The Mississippi state flag was taken down this morning from a display of state flags in front of Boise’s city hall because it contains the Confederate emblem, the Idaho Statesman and the AP report; Boise Mayor Dave Bieter asked for the removal after the killing of nine people in a historic black church in Charleston, S.C. led to wide criticism of the Confederate flag. Mike Journee, Bieter’s press secretary, told the Statesman, “This flag has been out there for many years. The connotation and the understanding of the connotation has changed, especially with recent events,” and he said it’s is not consistent with Boise’s stance as a community that welcomes diverse cultures. The Statesman has a full report here / Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise. More here .

Question: Anyone object to action taken by city of Boise to remove Mississippi’s flag from in front of the Boise City Hall?
