KCSD Reports Near Drowning

A 52YO Colorado grandmother is being treated at Kootenai Health after nearly drowning off City Beach at Harrison today. CPR was performed on Martha K. George after she was found floating in the water at about 2:20 p.m. George had been watching her two grandchildren when she decided to enter Lake Coeur d’Alene. Witnesses told Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies that they saw George entered the water up to her waist and then swim toward a dock. George was face down in the water when they next saw her. George was immediately pulled from the water, and CPR was started. Later, EMTs continued life-saving efforts and were able to get a pulse. Medstar transported George to Kootenai Health. George’s condition at this time is unknown.  Kootenai County Deputies, Kootenai Fire and Rescue personnel and Fire and Medical personnel from Harrison and St. Maries responded to the scene.
