Vestal trying to save values

Reading Shawn Vestal’s mea culpa in the June 17 paper was really interesting. He seemed to have a hard time understanding his dilemma. In my opinion, he chose to support Rachel Dolezal because his own ideology is similar to hers, and he ignored anything pointing toward major problems with her stories or credible sources telling him there were major problems with many of her claims.

Now that he has been caught, he must try to save his journalistic values, if he has any. Many of Vestal’s articles are biased and his obvious dislike for anyone in authority is present in most of them, especially when he writes anything about the police.

I think Vestal’s columns should be on the opinion page along with Gary Crooks’. Those two fit well together.
