Dolezal’s efforts small
I take issue with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s statement in Time magazine in which he said, “Bottom line: The black community is better off because of her (Rachel Dolezal’s) efforts.”
This might have readers believe there is a large black community in Spokane. The truth is that out of Spokane’s population of 208,916, only 1.7 percent are black or African-American; 90 percent are white.
Therefore, while Rachel clearly lacked integrity, her “leadership” efforts only helped a tiny minority, if at all, and do not deserve national attention.
