Prosecutor’s Wife Slams ‘Muzlims’

In this SR file photo from Nov. 4, 2014, Larry Haskell claps claps with the crowd as the results in the Spokane County prosecutor’s race are announced at the Republican gathering at the Davenport Hotel.

In a sit down interview with KHQ’s Dylan Wohlenhaus, Spokane County Prosecutor Larry Haskell addresses racially charged comments made online by his wife about Muslims. “Any of us that have spouses know we disagree on a lot of things,” Larry Haskell says. “We don’t frequently vote for the same candidates, we don’t vote for the same issues. We don’t necessarily agree on a given situation about the kids.” Larry Haskell was sworn in to office in December 2014 after being elected and serving under the former Spokane County Prosecutor, Steve Tucker, who was in office for 16 years. “I do not police my wife’s online activity,” Haskell says. “I can’t speak for my wife but I do apologize to the community for the angst this has caused. My spouse’s comments do not reflect my views and they don’t reflect the views of this office”/ KHQ . More here.

Question: Should an elected official be held accountable for comments or social media posts by a spouse?
