Op-Ed: IACI Should Help Students
After being privy to the meltdown that Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry President Alex LaBeau suffered upon hearing that Sen. Jeff Siddoway had put his foot down about cutting additional taxes until teacher pay was raised, we have to wonder: Who exactly is IACI helping here? With a state that’s 50th in the nation on nearly every count, what success does IACI have to talk about anymore? The thing that should scare us about the profanity-ridden email isn’t LaBeau’s apparent skill in wording nasty emails, but instead the complete lack of foresight that IACI has about funding education. The association has been behind every tax cut in recent memory, and although Idahoans strongly favor additional funding for education and many believe that the state has been derelict in its duties to provide a free and uniform education at public schools for our children, IACI continues to fight for additional tax cuts/ Emily Walton , College of Western Idaho Board of Trustees, Idaho Statesman guest opinion. More here.
Question: Has LaBeau’s profane email unmasked IACI’s indifference toward public education?
