Edit: Simpson Stands Up To Tea Party

At least Idaho has one adult in the U.S. House of Representatives. It’s too bad his in-state colleague prefers the child-like, do-nothing petulance so often employed by the GOP’s not-so-merry band of fringe antagonists. Rep. Mike Simpson rallied 74 fellow Republicans and 182 Democrats Tuesday, showed real leadership and personally brought legislation to the House floor that avoided a disastrous shutdown of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Rep. Raul Labrador, however, was predictably incensed by Simpson’s levelheadedness and offered his standard lack-of-any-solutions dissent. And a pile of sour grapes. “Today’s vote will embolden this president and future presidents to use executive action when they can’t get what they want from Congress,” Labrador spouted off while taking a shot at Simpson and reasonable House Republicans who followed him/ Jon Alexander, Twin Falls Times-News Editorial Board. Question: Would you rather have a grownups or bomb throwers representing Idaho in Congress?
