Props For Dike Road Work?

Mrs. O, Huckleberry the Beagle & I walked the Dike Road (Rosenberry Drive) Saturday morning, as is our custom. In doing so, we encountered three friends — all of whom gave thumbs up to the new look of the Dike Road. Which was open for traffic of all kinds. At this point, almost all of the stumps have been removed and most of the levee has been contoured for a moderated look. Our friend Andy from Post Falls said he likes the new open look. So does his wife, Sunny. Our friend Kayla, who was pushing her baby in a stroller while jogging, had a mixed reaction. She liked the old, heavily treed look — and is getting accustomed to the new look. On our way back, I heard a bicyclist exclaimed to a buddy as they road past us: “I like this. It’s open, you can see the lake, and the sun is shining on us.” The city certainly should have kept the public in the loop when it decided to cut more trees than originally predicted. But it appears that the many in the public won’t freak out when they first see the new-look Dike Road/ DFO.
