GOP can’t lead

Once again, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and the Republican leadership looked like inept fools regarding the Department of Homeland Security funding debacle. Today, she should be most grateful for seldom-used House Rule 22, which provided the leadership an off-ramp that in fact saved her bacon.

Even at that, she still had 74 of her Republican members spurn the GOP leadership and vote with all of the Democrats to pass a clean, one-year funding bill. The events further verify that the GOP does not know how to govern. McMorris Rodgers and her party have focused so much of their time on obstruction in the last six years that they are incapable of legislation.
