Can You Graduate From Idaho HS?
From KREM2: The Senate Education Committee introduced a bill that would require students to pass a basic civics test to graduate from high school. Republican Sen. Jim Patrick from Twin Falls told the panel Wednesday that the new focus on science, technology and math in schools means that students are learning less about government and current affairs. TEST: Answer 10 sample questions from the test . Students would need to answer 70 of the 100 questions correctly in order to pass. They would be able to take the test at any point after enrolling in seventh grade.
DFO: Maybe we were a little hard of GOP Sen. Jim Patrick of Post Falls. The 10 sample questions are easy smeasy. If the rest are just as simple, I don’t see much harm in requiring a high school senior to pass the test as a graduation requirement. But I’d still like to see legislators take the test, too. Thoughts?
