Thanks goes to Fagan

As the mother of a child who was harmed by a vaccine, I would like to thank Spokane City Council member Mike Fagan for standing up for parents like me. The Centers for Disease Control’s one-size-fits-all approach on vaccines has resulted in harm to some children.

I appreciate my freedom as a parent to proceed with caution in this area and make well-informed decisions regarding my children’s health. My views, and the views of Fagan, are not anti-science, as some have argued. We simply recognize that some children may be susceptible to harm from a vaccine.

By the way, the vaccine manufacturers agree with us. That’s why they set up the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. It was a recognition that some kids will be harmed. To date, over $2.8 billion has been paid to families who have a child injured by a vaccine.

I hope Fagan stays on as a member of the Spokane Regional Board of Health. Someone has to be the voice of reason and defend the right of parents to be the ones to weigh the risks and benefits of vaccines for their children.
