Road/Bridge Bill Gets OK

The House Ways & Means Committee unanimously introduced an $84M/year transportation bill that would rely on a variety of fee and tax increases to create new revenue to pay for Idaho’s bridge and road repairs, including a 5 cent hike to the state’s 25-cent per gallon gas tax in fiscal year 2016; increases in transfer fees; increases in registration fees for cars, trucks, motorcycles, and trailers; new fees on hybrid and electric vehicles; increased fees for oversized loads; and transferring some general funds to transportation/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise. More here.

Question: I don’t like new taxes. But it seems time for us to upgrade our roads and bridges, although we might simply be paying for such upgrades for the Boise/Nampa-Caldwell area. Thoughts?
