Sisyphus: Family Reunions OK Until …

Sisyphus (RE: Letter: Nuxholl embarrasses family ): I have a large extended family which was also steeped in Idaho farm life and Catholic traditions. Most of us buck the political stereotype of Idaho farmers and we have raucous family get togethers I wouldn’t miss if you paid me. The politics there is pretty liberal for modern day Idaho. In general politics can be discussed fairly openly until someone tries to re-bleat an unsubstantiated talking point demonstrating a facile understanding of issues, like “liberal media” or ‘Obama’s a Muslin’. That’s when things get embarrassing. These folks are quickly shut down or ignored. Then they show up on Facebook.

Question: Do you enjoy family reunions? Or are they something to approach with caution?
