Red light tickets unfair

It appears that technology has the upper hand. This can be seen in the Red Light Photo Enforcement program.

If you drive an automobile long enough, sooner or later you’re going to run a red light. It doesn’t matter who you are. Everyone has experienced this predicament.

In reality, you have not run a red light, but a yellow light. My definition of running a red light is when you are approaching an intersection and the light is red, you go through that intersection and keep going. I would guess that over 95 percent of the population does not intentionally run a red light.

I question the legality of the red light program promoted by the city of Spokane when it issues a fine. Every one of us has a different reaction time and perception of the situation.

The major flaw with the red light program is that the technology is penalizing the automobile driver who is far from perfect in his or her innate abilities. In other words, the citizen driver is being chastised for his or her human imperfections.

If you have any misgivings about the red light program, make your wishes known to the City Council.
