Teresa Luna to resign as state Admin Dept. director
Teresa Luna is resigning as director of the state Department of Administration, according to reporter Melissa Davlin of Idaho Reports; she reported on her blog here this afternoon that Gov. Butch Otter confirmed today that Luna will resign at the end of this year’s legislative session. The governor said he’ll appoint an interim director for the department after the session.
Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter announced Tuesday that Teresa Luna will resign as the director of the Department of Administration at the end of the legislative session. “I admire Teresa’s tenacity and commitment to doing the right thing,” Otter said in a statement to Idaho Reports. “I am proud to call her a friend.”
Luna has been embroiled in the Idaho Education Network mess; the failed statewide school broadband network, a major initiative of Otter as governor, fell under the Department of Administration. Last month, a judge issued a final order declaring that the state issued the $60 million IEN contract illegally. Amid legal questions over the contract, Luna the summer before last, without telling state lawmakers, extended the contract through 2019.
Luna was appointed director of the Department of Administration in March 2011. Davlin’s full post is online here .
