Cruisin’ Night At Topper, Too
At Old School North Idaho , Keva Wolfe posted this photo from Caryn Easterly of “Cruise Night at Topper, Too.” We’ve had another photo of Topper, Too on Huckleberries recently. But I don’t think we’ve ever discussed cruising a main drag or the hangout places of our glory days. For me in the mid-1960s, it was a place called Mel’s Diner on Highway 99 in the small (3,500 population) of Gridley, Calif. It was a diner that looked like the one above. Later, I dated a waitress at the local A&W and thought I’d struck gold when she would slip me free burgers, fries and root beer floats for lunch. How about you?
Question: Where did you drag “main” and where did you hang out during your high school days?
