Trustee Hamilton Won’t Run Again

At the Reagan Republicans noon luncheon today, Coeur d’Alene school Trustee Tom Hamilton ended months of speculation by saying that he won’t seek re-election. In a prepared statement, Hamilton said:

I can tell you with all clarity that my decision to run originally was made from pride and nothing more.  Despite that failure, I do believe God blessed my service to our community and I will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity. However, this time around I spent time prayerfully seeking His direction and that direction is clear.  God has a plan for me but it does not involve further service in political office. I will continue to invest in our community because I love where I live and I do believe that “Love you neighbor as yourself” is the most noble of callings.  In that view, it has become clear to me that my service on the school board has become an idol that replaces the time I need to spend on other things that have eternal and not merely earthly significance. Complete statement here.
