Troye Quits Zone 3 Trustee Race
Alicia Troye, one of three women who filed candidacy papers for the Coeur d’Alene School District Zone 3 race, has decided to withdraw. In a prepared statement this morning, Troye explained: “I was asked to run so that the incumbent would not be unopposed. With two new names on the ballot, the cause quickly became counterproductive.” Troye’s decision means challenger Tambra Pickford will face incumbent Terri Seymour in May. You can read Troye’s complete statement here:
As a parent and a substitute teacher, I felt as though my opinion was not being heard or represented by my
current School Board Trustee. I wanted to sit on the Board as a voice for the teachers and an advocate for the educational futures of the students in our district. When I was first approached about running for the seat, I was excited about the opportunity to serve our community. After announcing last week, the positive support towards my campaign has been huge. I was asked to run so the incumbent would not be unopposed. With two new names on the ballot, the cause quickly became counterproductive. That is why, I am withdrawing my application to run for School Board Trustee, Zone 3 so a joint effort can exist for the voting public to put a new voice on the Coeur d’Alene School Board on May 19th.
