Welcome, Bishop Daly

On behalf of the extended faith community of Spokane, I would like to welcome Bishop Thomas Daly to the city of Spokane. We were delighted to read of his appointment by Pope Francis.

The Catholic Diocese of Spokane has been a leader in making Spokane a more compassionate, inclusive community. It has a tradition of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and giving voice to the voiceless. We are excited to work with Bishop Daly to continue this tradition as he moves forward and becomes more acquainted with the Inland Northwest.

In the New Testament, we read: The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold. (Acts 28:2, NEV)

We are eager to receive a new leader to our community and look forward to the opportunity to welcoming him in from the cold and kindling a fire of compassion here in the Lilac City.
