Ybarra praises 7.4% school budget increase

Idaho schools Superintendent Sherri Ybarra is praising the budget for public schools set by JFAC today, saying she has “deep appreciation” for it; the budget matches Gov. Butch Otter’s recommendation for a 7.4 percent increase in school funding next year. Ybarra had requested just 6.4 percent.

“We appreciate the open lines of communication with members of JFAC, and members of the legislature,” Ybarra said in a statement. “This demonstrates what can be accomplished for Idaho students when great ideas are coupled with an environment of collaboration.” Her chief deputy superintendent, Pete Koehler, said, “It has been a great legislative session for the children of Idaho.” You can read Ybarra’s full statement here .
