Excellent care at Lakeland
Regarding Darci Ladwig’s March 19 letter on Lakeland Village: We are happy that people with developmental disabilities who want to live in our communities can do so. Some of us prefer the services provided by Lakeland Village. Our preference is just as legitimate.
My family wanted Lakeland Village for my sister. She lived a full and happy life at Lakeland Village. My sister spent her last years in Lakeland’s nursing facility. The services she received were excellent, thanks to caring, dedicated staff. She had many opportunities to participate in community activities. They were always open to my visits, announced and unannounced. I never found my sister in a neglected situation. I am grateful.
The problems found by the state and federal auditors have been largely resolved. This is due to a diligent staff that is committed to making Lakeland Village a wonderful home for developmentally disabled people. I encourage anyone who has questions about Lakeland Village to tour this great facility. We parents and guardians will be most happy to arrange such a tour for you.
