KEA: County Targets Shore Buffer
New Kootenai County Commissioners Stewart and Eberlein have proposed eliminating the 25’ natural vegetative setback/buffer zone around our lakes and rivers “to protect lakeshore residents property rights.” Science shows the need for buffers to filter out pollutants from entering our waterways. A 25ft buffer is one of the smallest setbacks of all the major lakes in the United States. Speak up for clean water: kcbocc@kc.gov.us/ KEA Facebook page . Question: Is this another example of the two new commissioners eliminating anything they consider in opposition to private property rights?
