Dustin Apologizes For Misfire
Dustin Hurst of Idaho Reporter sends Huckleberries Online this apology for print after accusing Sorensen School of wasting government money to stage a juggling class last week:
Allow me to apologize to the community of Coeur d’Alene, the Coeur d’Alene School District and the parents and impassioned advocates who work tirelessly to fund special programs for the youth at Sorensen Elementary. The Idaho Freedom Foundation has always sought to empower individuals to change their surroundings and my work did a deep disservice to that. I am truly sorry. I didn’t do proper research before creating a piece of media highlighting what I thought to be government waste. I was wrong. I have removed the graphic from the Idaho Freedom Foundation page. Additionally, I will write a note to the school principal apologizing for the mistake. Because I believe in accountability, I am also creating a ‘Corrections’ page on IdahoReporter.com to be upfront about future errors. This is certainly a teaching moment for me and I intend to learn from it. Again, I apologize to those impassioned supporters of Sorensen who do so much good for Coeur d’Alene kids — Dustin Hurst.
DFO: Well done, Dustin.
