Then and Now: Spokane College is now a shopping center
This week’s column tells of Spokane College, Spokane University and Spokane Junior College. All were attempts to start colleges in Spokane, but none survived after World War II. One remnant of Spokane University is the former science building, which was converted into a nursing home after World War II and today is part of the Sunshine Gardens nursing home. at 9th Ave. and Raymond in Spokane Valley.
