Ailment Forces PFPDog To Retire
From Post Falls Police Department Facebook page:
“We wanted to update you on Koda and some bad news we received last week from the Vet– Koda has been diagnosed with a
neurological disorder that will require his retirement from patrol very soon. Koda has visited his local vet and the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and they do not feel the problems are fixable. As we understand the situation, the medical problems he has were created by a combination of work related activity and his age. Koda was
purchased as our first K-9 here at PFPD in late 2009 and when he came to work he was two+ years old. Ten years for a police K-9 is about the normal longevity of a police dog.
We have our annual PFPD K9 fund raiser in August and will hopefully raise enough money to replace Koda later this summer. We will keep you posted. We are all hopeful that Koda will have several years of rest and relaxation after his retirement from patrol.”
