GOP is the roadbock

The glib pens of the editorial board are hard at work, which is more than you can say about the Republican-controlled Congress it so foolishly supports.

Take as yet another example from its May 21 editorial, “Highway funding needs state, local support,” in which the glib pen writes, “Congress has known about this (the lack of money for the Highway Trust Fund) for a very long time. Democrats and Republicans agree the fund needs a significant revenue injection.”

In truth, the Party of No has failed to support this funding as well as a majority of similar shovel-ready projects the last six-plus years. They throw schoolyard tantrums rebelling against President Obama for having won election and re-election to office.

It’s past time for the GOP to step up and support America by funding projects that fill the infrastructure needs of our country while also putting millions of workers back on the payroll.

The Spokesman-Review editorial board should continue to support what’s good for our state needs, but also it should better reflect the reality of the no-funding stance of the present congressional majority.
