Verduin character admirable

Thanks to The Spokesman-Review reporters for their fine coverage of the local candidates and issues on the upcoming ballot. I can agree with most of the recommendations of the editorial board and appreciate the candidates for their courage in putting themselves in the public eye.

Recently, I sacrificed watching “Jeopardy” and my husband gave up a ball game to visit a forum put on by Northwest Neighborhood Council and Audubon/Bemis Council at Browne Elementary. Appointed Spokane City Council 3rd District Rep. Karen Stratton and challenger Evan Verduin were the forum participants.

Both candidates stressed their small business enterprises. Stratton has an up-and-coming marijuana farm. Families who have experienced loved ones afflicted by this gateway drug might not delight in having a council member participating in this occupation, even if it has been legalized in this progressive state.

Verduin owns a small architecture firm. He’s married, with three young daughters and a new son. He also serves on the city’s planning commission. He is fairly new to this world of politics and public policy. He does not have pat answers. He does have admirable character.

Please vote for Evan Verduin, 3rd District city council member.
