Make a difference on climate
We have all read many sincere pleas submitted by concerned citizens regarding global warming. We have heard time after time about some action someone else should take. I am wondering what you could do and what I could do, what individual Americans could do to make a difference in the world.
Consider this: Global production of consumer goods has likely risen around 400 percent in the last 20 years. I would propose to you that this dramatic increase in production is less related to an increase in population than it is to an increase in demand. And also that this demand is fueled directly by First World consumerism.
What if you and I voted with our dollars on this issue? What could happen if we, together, curtailed our unnecessary spending for a year. You know the spending I am writing about: the shirt that you bought and never wore, the shoes you bought and wore once because they hurt your feet.
Would we begin to see some positive changes in global warming, global pollution and global working conditions, to name a few opportunities that exist? Think about it and vote for a better world. We can make a difference together.
