Expect more from police

Regarding the latest Spokane Police Department scandal: Whether or not a rape and/or cover-up occurred is yet to be decided, if, indeed, it is even investigated and decided at all. But if the newspaper stories are at all correct, at the very least a mighty wild party was held by police officers. Indeed, it sounded more like a drunken orgy.

I don’t care if you are a Christian, an atheist, an agnostic or just a plain old secularist, are these the kind of people you want your kids to emulate, respect and admire, much less enforce laws? Call me square if you wish, but it seems to me that we taxpayers have a right to expect an even higher moral standard from law enforcement officers than from most other public servants.

I, of course, am not so naïve as to expect the police union to agree with me and others who believe as I do.
